Thanks very much everyone. I really appreciate your comments. The water came from water sprinkler pipes placed along the course. Yes, Emile, I asked my son and the people we were with if they knew if historically anyone had died in this race. Nobody knew. But I could see how it could happen...hills, heat, humidity, and lack of training. Now I know.
