Starfish Flower

Uploaded: June 29, 2006

Description

I have no idea what kind of flower this is. It looks like a starfish so thats what I call it. Taken at the botanical gardens in Largo, Florida. Had my macro setting on. Put in our local newspaper this morning. I just had one put in six days ago. I was really excited to see this one in there already.

Thank you everyone for all of your nice comments. I went on line where you can visit their website to see if they had a picture of this flower. I found out it is called a "Crinum Lily". It is one of the larger lilies in the armaryllis family. Their leaves can be 18-48 inches long. #2969963

Beautiful shot Kay ~ congrats on getting it published! I think it is an Allium, or Ornamental onion as commonly known .. they have rather large flower heads ~ I took some shots of these recently and will post soon.. very lovely capture!
