Description

Early morning photo (5.40am) of the Sydney Opera House at the height of the christmas bushfires (2001). Note - no filters used. This is what it really looked like!

Hi Grant, I beleive you about the use of no filters. My brother sent me some photos and the light was just amazing... even throughout the day!!!
I love your composition in this photo and your exposure was perfect. Any darker and you would have had just a big black silhouette of the Oprea house.
Where did you take the photo from... was it from the bridge??

Hi Adam,

You won't believe me...My family & I were coming into port on board P&O's 'Pacific Sky' after the Christmas cruise.

All the other passengers were on the other side taking shots of the ship docking (boring!). I knew better and waited for the ship to slide into the exact right position.

PS: Yes the exposure setting was tricky - I hedged my bets and bracketed the shot. #6902
