This is a great shot Cari, and perfect for the motion theme! Love the comp, and the chips flying away from the lathe. #461098

Carolyn Foster Spano June 08, 2006

Thank you Tressie. It was such fun to see all the artisans at work. These chips were flying 8 feet or more at one poin. It was wild! #2870390

Carolyn,
First it is very dangerous for me to be looking at this picture, I love working with a lathe, it is addictive and I don't have one right now!
Second and more importantly, a really neat shot of the action of the lather and cutting, belated congrats on your being recognized! Great action shot and POV.

Jim #3337131

Carolyn Foster Spano September 23, 2006

Thank you James. Don't you love the smell of wood being worked? My father was a carpenter and the smell of freshly sawn wood takes me right back to my childhood. #3350097

James E. Coleman level-classic September 24, 2006

Carolyn,
Yes I love it. Among other things, I worked in a multi-trade shop in the Navy and I was always fascinated with the carpenters starting with some raw walnut, etc. and making some beautiful piece. That was where I picked up again what my father did, which was woodworking and the use of the lathe.
Excuse my crazy typos!
