Description

F22 at 8 seconds, hard 0.6ND grad, Velvia Pentax 67II, 55-100 zoom.

Location: Portknockie, Moray, Scotland.

A summer dawn at the cliffs overlooking the Moray Firth at Portknockie. It was an extraordinary morning. Near the Bow Fiddle arch that makes this place famous, a pod of 30-50 dolphins were leaping out of the water. A celebration of the new day or just rejoicing in some of the finest light I have seen. This has not been adjusted in photoshop. Velvia has its own palette that happens to be in accordance with my memory of this very beautiful morning.

Thank you so much for your very warm response to this picture. The light was simply stunning it lasted for less than a minute before turning a steely grey colour. The colour pallette is partially due to the 8 second exposure of Velvia and that of reality itself. It is vital to me that you would be able to see this for yourself if you had been beside me so I don't make any "adjustments" in photoshop this is as close to a slide on a light box as I can make it and just as vivid as my memory of it. #2870503
