Temple of the Four Winds
Description: Castle Howard, Nr York, Uk. Early in 1724 Vanburgh sent some designs for a pavillion for the south east corner of Ray Wood, Castle Howard and was pleased to learn that the 3rd Earl had chosen the temple with four Porticos. It is modelled in part on Paddadios Villa Rotonda in Vicenza. The temple is an open rotunda of 8 Tuscan columns under an octagonal entablature and dome. f20 @ 1/13 80 mm ISO 100
