The beauty and the beast

Description

The butterfly was added to this image. The whole image was converted to the grayscale and than to duotone. Also the butterfly was selectively colored in PS CS.
Both photos, of the hippo and of the butterfly were taken in the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.

Terrific image, Monika! It's funny... I tried that exact same concept the other day only with a gorilla and butterfly but the gorilla's eyes weren't quite focused on the butterfly so it wasn't convincing... but this is awesome! Great job! :) #2506513

Christina, Marie, Wendy, William, Jeff and Brinn – thank you very much for your wonderful comments on this image! Even though this image wasn’t too complicated to do it took me a couple of hours to put this thing together yesterday, mostly on choosing color combination in it and of course the title ;-). Even though the hippo isn’t the biggest beast and the butterfly isn’t the most beautiful looking the title came up to me as a suggestion of opposites here; kind of an interpretation of what I saw in my mind. While still learning English I still have tough time with titles to my images ;-).
