Not only is this an extremely pleasing photograph, but Darwin has solved a technically challenging exposure problem to boot. The combination of two discrete color temperatures in the same photo shows flare, and a dab hand with a meter. It looks like maybe an 81A filter was used (judging from the sky) to warm up the snow in the fg, but that's just a guess. I would love some more technical information on this shot. #94

I used two grad filters to make this photo. A orange grad over the skies and trees, and a blue grad upside down over the snow. The image was taken with a 24mm lens using Velvia film and the exposure was taken a +1 from the meter reading.

I lean heavily to the digital side of imaging because you simply can't create pictures like this with only film, lenses, meters, and filters...

Or so I thought. This "un-manipulated" photo makes my methods feel cheap and dirty.

This is unquestionably a WONDERFUL photo. That is was obtained without digtial manipulation is fine, but the end result is far more important than how it was acchived.
Ansle Adams is most famous for his darkroom techiques. Wheter done in the darkroom or on the computer is just a matter of preference these days.
