Built in 1755
Uploaded: December 16, 2005
I have passed this 'mill' many times on my business travels - unable to stop and take a look. I made the effort the other day (left home at 6.30 am) to make time. It was a dark dreary winter's day but I managed to get a few captures that were not too bad. I also found it is not a mill, but a furnace built in 1755 to produce iron. It used charcoal from the surrounding woodland, and waterpower from the river. It was abandoned after 50 years use and then was used as a sawmill. It is now a heritage building.

It was well worth the effort to stop Janet - this place is gorgeous. Thanks for the background information - I can't believe that this building was built only 5 years after Australia was discovered......WOW.Pat Gamwell December 16, 2005
