I love this image, Tim!!! It looks a little like a sketch. Is this a special effect created in Photoshop or a black & white image that gives the illusion of a sketch due to the white background? However you accomplished it I think it's outstanding! #363533

Thanks, Sharon!
No special effects. Just a flower shot against a white background. I did jack up the contrast in Photoshop. About the same amount I would have in the wet darkroom. Thanks for commenting.

Beautiful image, Tim. I see that you used a Canon 10D. I am contemplating making the leap to digital, and wonder if this one is shot in the camera b/w mode, or if you converted it in Photoshop?

Also, did you shoot it in natural light, or did you illuminate the scene?

Hello Marti,
I shot it in Color Mode and converted it in Photoshop. Lighting was all natural. I just set up a white background and put the flower in front of it. The lighting that day was sunny so I put the whole affair in the shade so I would not have any harsh shadows on the flower or background.

Awesome shot Tim,

This is a very tasteful image you've created. It's very balanced and the exposure looks spot on. This'd make a great series if you're willing to commit. #2251991
