Country & Culture

A tapestry hanging in the Canberra War Memorial in Australia. The inscription reads "Country & Culture will be protected by spears." The symbols represent the ways in which rock holes, trees, and the landscape are protectors of the Aboriginal way of life; the tree is a symbol of a soldier and houses the spirit of the ancestors; the spears are for the soldiers to use and refer to their history of warfare.
