Heartbreak

Description

Tears and prayers for the people of Kauai, still reeling one week after a historic deluge flooded parts of the island, collapsing homes and burying cars and roads. Due to the isolated nature of the storms and the way the water runs off the mountains, Hanalei and areas west of there on the north shore were the most affected. I've been following the situation via alternative news, not really noticing that it has gone largely ignored by mainstream reporting; hence sharing here.

This shot was taken on a visit a few years ago, from the Princeville condo where we stay, just up the road from Hanalei (and largely unaffected due to its high ground).
