Thanks for the compliment, maybe we can trade secrets! I am completely intimidated at the thought of doing a wedding! Kids are easy, adults are much harder, I think! #153069

trading secrets would be awesome! I have to do a grandchildren picture for my mother this month and I'm a little nervous. the good thing about doing kids is that they are cute even when they aren't cooperating! Adults well it's hard to get them to let go sometimes. I love weddings though becuae it's so fun to capture the emotion! I'll have to tell you about my last client VERY interesting story! Got any tips for that grandchildrens picture?

Well, I guess my best advice would be to make sure the setting is beautiful--so you'll at least have that going for you. A beautiful garden or park setting works well for me. Doing kids, multiple especially, can be hard to light indoors, which is why I prefer outdoors for that--shade seems to be the best. I like to find a shade spot with some sunlight in the background for effect, and then adjust the exposure so that their faces are exposed correctly. You're right, kids are cute, so even when not cooperating you can get good stuff. The little girl I just did would not pose, so I basically followed her around the garden. You have to be flexible enough to take it off the tripod if you have to. I bring a variety of props, angel and fairy wings, a wicker chair, fake flowers, sometimes they go for it sometimes not. Also, my favorite thing, is to get close. My camera has a macro mode, and I use it to get super close to kids faces. That seems to be the best way to highlight their eyes. I end up shooting a lot more than I need, so editing is always a problem. But, with kids, more is better. This is all pretty basic, I don't know if any of it is helpful! I have 3 small kids of my own, so I guess waiting for "the" shot is no big deal, I am used to waiting for kids to cooperate! Oh, I also keep up a steady stream of banter and silly songs. Kids seem to like that! Have fun with the pictures! #153987

aravinda, thank you for the compliment! sorry it's has taken SO long for me respond to your question! .....the film I used was kodak professional Tmax 400. I did have a fill in flash on, however the light that is coming from behind her is from the sun, I just used her veil to help soften the glow. and I did at the time have on a spot filter! I had my camara on manual but I don't remember what the shutter speed and apature were set to! Hope this helps! #698338
