Ganymede's Room

Description

The "tribuna" room at the palazzo Grimani museum. A few centuries ago, some 130 sculptures and busts adorned the room, filling the niches, occupying the small ledges. Today, only the suspended sculpture of "The Abduction of Ganymede" has been returned to the room, in its original position. I thought about trying to correct the room's settling and the resulting off-true lines in the coffered ceiling, but left it as-is; it seemed to enhance the feel of the age of the palazzo.

Another great shot of this interestingly shaped room, Chris. Nice to see the colors and suspended statuary. Well done! #1684647

Thank you both! Harvey, it's astonishing to realize how wealthy Venice was at her height. #11586208
