Absolutely gorgeous, Leslie, but I have to ask, how does he let you get in so close??? I have the American Kestrel here as well, and my best shot has been through the window, when he didn't know I was in the area! Wonderful detail in the feathers. They are beautiful, but have always been skittish when I have had a photo opportunity, so you were really blessed with this close up! <>< #11562696

This is a captive kestrel that lives in a rehab facility as he can no longer live in the wild. #11562783

So sad to hear. I was kind of afraid of that, but was hoping that he was in the wild, and you had figured out some way that you were able to get a tad closer to these beautiful falcons, and may be even willing to share. It is an excellent capture, and hopefully this photo can even be used to make people aware of their needs and habitat. Thanks for providing that info. <>< #11562842
