Description

I've had the privilege of watching Tiger Swallowtail larvae develop in my back yard. I have an Ash tree that sprang back up from the trunk of an Ash tree that had been cut down. I went out to water it one morning and discovered these caterpillars on the leaves. I quickly looked up the larvae and discovered that they were one of my favorite butterflies. I have had a lot of these butterflies in my garden for the past two years and that's how long I have had this Ash tree. I tried to take several progressive pictures and this was the result of combining them.
All images were taken in my garden in Southern Oregon. I used layers in Photoshop CC to combine them. The butterfly was added as a composite image. I processed the final image in Topaz Simplify and Impression2.
