Description

Submitted for the PG 101 Life in the Sticks Theme
Partridge pea, also called sensitive plant because its leaves curl up slightly when you touch it, is a hardy wildflower that is particularly good for areas that are in danger of erosion. I found it growing on the slopes in DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge. The area was submerged for an extended period during the Missouri River floods of 2010 and 2011. Trees and other plants died, but the growth is beginning anew and this hardy and pretty little plant is doing its part.
