Description

On a Canyonlands Tour of the southwestern National Parks, one really has no control of the timetable. So, when the Tour Director says, "We're leaving [the current location] at 11:00 AM," the photographer must accept his/her next series of images will be taken at the worst time of the day. S/he should be armed with a polarizer at a minimum, and be prepared to use exposure compensation. Com[plaining aside, it's very possible to get fabulous picture in midday light.

While I love the color version, I made a monochrome using Channel Mixer. While playing with the adjustment slider, I was able to create this toned picture. It's been panned by Pop Photo and has been a multi-time winner in camera club competitions.

Exposure Info.: f/8, 1/320 sec, ISO 200, Focal Length 26 mm.
