Bass Harbor Head Light is a picturesque lighthouse located on Mount Desert Island within Maine Acadia National Park. It towers over the Atlantic Ocean and seacoast, marking the entrance to Bass Harbor and Blue Hill Bay. It is one of the most iconic scenery of Acadia NP as Bass Harbor Light.

Thank you all so much! It was an incredible sunset. Aftera day of drizzling rain there were signs that the sky might be opening up which is why I decided to head over to Bass Harbor Light in Acadia National Park. So glad I did - there was only one other photographer and we had a great time exploring various compositions with dramatic light. Good light and happy photo making! Thanks Linda! The image was juried into fine art exhibit The National on Cape Cod. There will be many artworks in all media on display. Glad you like this Bass Harbor lighthouse photography image from Maine Acadia National Park - it's probably one of the most iconic and scenic New England lighthouses. Happy midweek! Thank you Jane! It's always great when everything comes together. I first photographed from the rocks above but then made my way further down - always kept an eye on the ocean although if there would have been one big wave I would have gone swimming :-) Happy thursday, Juergen www.RothGalleries.com #11485833Harriet Feagin June 19, 2016 1
The best shot of the lighthouse I have seen. #11486599Juergen Roth June 20, 2016
Thanks so very much Harriet! Glad you like this Bass Harbor Head Light sunset photography image. What a great way to receive such a nice comment on it and start out the first day of summer. Happy Monday, Juergen www.RothGalleries.com #11486677Harriet Feagin June 20, 2016 1
After reading the comment about the waves, I wanted to say that I do know what you mean. I photographed this site in 2009 on a Sunday morning. I was the only person out there and I was a little afraid that I could be washed off the rocks and no one would know. However, the photo hangs over my fireplace. Every time I look at it I can hear the waves hitting the rocks, smell the salty air and relive the moment over again. That's the beauty of photography. #11486711Juergen Roth June 20, 2016
The ocean is very powerful and we should never underestimate it. But as you say, when we create and capture our vision in an image then we make this emotional connection and freeze the moment forever. Good light and happy photo making!
