Gold Beach Imvasion Site

Description

The British Invasion Forces were assigned to take Gold Beach. The defending German forces didn't put up the same show of force they did against US forces at Omaha Beach. As such, British casualties were relatively low.

A movie presented at the D-Day Museum at Arromanches shows how the Allies built portable piers [ship docking facilities,] fascinating but never presented in movies like D-Day, the Sixth of June.

When we reached Arromanches, the weather was great. Crowds were manageable. My 7D was fitted with my 17-85 mm zoom with polarizer at 17 mm.
