Blessing of the Bikes

Description

James Magness, Episcopal Bishop for the Armed Forces, participates in the third annual Blessing of the Bikes (and their riders) at Washington National Cathedral this weekend. A couple of hundred members of Rolling Thunder drive up into the forecourt of the cathedral for a service, followed by blessings with holy water sprinkled from boughs of boxwood. Tours follow, inside the cathedral, focusing on service and sacrifice; a fitting start to the Memorial Day weekend. (I didn't realize until editing this, that the cathedral appears as a distorted reflection in the front bike's chrome - as do I, taking the picture!)
