The term "sun dog" (or "sundog") refers to patches of light that sometimes appear beside the sun. Try googling it for a more thorough definition/explanation! Lovely capture, Michele!! #11412590

What you have here, Michele, is known as a "parhelic circle." Fascinating. #11412591

A unique take on the theme and a striking phenomenon. I'd heard the term "sun dog" but wasn't sure of what it actually was. I've never come across the term "parhelic circle." Thanks, Melinda, for the info. #11412602
