Now where did you go?

Description

This was shot on Saunders Island's magnificent white sand beach on the Falkland Islands. Saunders Island is one of many privately owned Islands that make up the Falkland Islands. Just to the right of where we were, was a hill and cliffs. On the hill was where sheep were being raised, and there were colonies of Rockhopper Penguins that made their home at the top of the cliffs and hopped up and down to the ocean daily.

The beach was where thousands of Gentoo penguins came to mate, and there were nesting rookeries with Gentoo penguins sitting on their eggs just above the beach. Of course eggs means Striated Caracara birds and Skuas were always looking for any way to steal eggs.

The water on this beach was an amazing blue/green, and other than an early summer day being about 32 degrees (f), (and the presence of thousands of penguins, you would swear it was a tropical island beach.

My favorite destination of the trip, bar none.
