Description

Says happy T~K~W day to you. This is a rework of this striking bird, a native of Australia, I understand. Although he looks much like an owl, he isn't in that family.

You're spot on with your bird information, Mitch! He is indeed a Tawny Frogmouth, not at all related to the owl family, and he is an Australian native! We have them here, they are very common, and they make a funny little muted noise. They look just like the branches they sit in, and generally sit down low in a tree, its hard to spot them! What a lovely capture, I love his little cross eyes look, he must be tired! #1638773

I thank you for the look at this bird that is certainly something new for me and thank Debbie for the information about it. its always a thrill to see things I would never have if not on BP. You did excellent work in bringing out the details and colors, how they match the tree and then the eyes that stand out. Gorgeous look at this most amazing looking fella Mitch. #11381001

An awesome animal portrait. Wonderful tones, texture and DOF. His feathers do look just like the bark and I love his sad little face and eyes. Great job and I hope we see this one again. #11381522

I have a soft spot for the beautiful birds Mitch! Possibly because we are both Australian! A wonderful capture beautifully presented! #11381842

Excellent capture of such an unusual bird, he does look sad and cross eyed - wonder what's troubling him! #11398996
