Manta Ray Ballet #1

Uploaded: September 15, 2015 | Entered: September 15, 2015 11:31:40

Description

Over the next several days I will post the Manta Ray Ballet. Mantas are large rays and their width can exceed 23 feet and there are few aquariums large enough to house them. Atlanta Aquarium is one. They have triangular pectoral fins, horn shaped cephalic (head) fins and large forward facing mouths (other rays have downward facing mouths). They are filter feeders and eat large quantities of zooplantkon by doing a series of flip with their mouth open called the Manta Ray Ballet. I hope you enjoy this series.
