Description

The Nordic's are Rich in Viking History. We enjoyed so much learning about them while in Iceland, Denmark and Norway this May. The Icelandic Nordics's were and are fishermen by trade and well known for their small horses with beautiful long manes. Iceland is called, "The Land of Fire and Ice", since it is all volcanic and mostly snow covered!! The Danish Vikings were Mighty Warriors conquering everyone around them, whereas the Norwegian Vikings were more the Farmer type. All of them held family in the highest regard. Later the Danish and Norwegian Nordics became well known for their quality craftsmanship in wood tooling and fine furniture making selling their wares by ship. They'd sail up and down (and all around) Western Europe. Interestingly enough using the same routes they once used to conquer and terrorize! No matter the era in time, the Nordic Vikings are respected as hard working family oriented survivors that never give up!

This was originally a photo I took of Viking Ship replica in Denmark. It is still in the water and a wonderfully natural setting. Although I liked the original photo that I took, I tried the image using several mediums in DDR. I liked this and another very much. This is the pencil effect but I think it looks more like INK ART. :) ink Art was quite big in the 70's where I come from!! I hope you like it? Have a great day all! #1623782

It's a beauty, SSSLala. A painting from the past.
And what you wrote sounds true in my ears and makes me very proud to be a Danish Viking.
Thank you!!! #11330618

SO cool, my little Pomegranate ~ both your "Ink Art" image, and the history behind it. I like the part about the Norwegian Nordics using the same routes for selling their wood tooling and fine furniture as in olden days, when they amused themselves by terrorizing everybody else in the neighborhood! Ha! #11331107

I loved our trip so much. Seeing you and Leif, SSSKiki, and learning all about your reigon of the world. I was as proud to be there as you are to be a Viking Woman! :D It's a fascinating world you live in and it was very clear it would take years to see it all. I am so grateful to have seen what we did of these three Nordic Countries! Wow! And Thank you everyone for visiting this art/photograph! :D #11333167

My G'G'Grandfather was a sailor & did repairs on the boats, when he moved here from Denmark he made furniture, mainly for banks etc. There is still some of his work in the Powerhouse Museum. Wouldn't it be good to have a sail around in one of these old beauties. Very well taken & presented=^..^= #11402302
