Australian Flooded Gum Tree.

Uploaded: June 13, 2015 | Entered: June 13, 2015 13:22:03

Description

The tree at the end of the walkway, is New South Wales tallest known tree. It is estimated to be approximately 400 years old, and has a height of 86m or 282 feet, and its girth is 8.5m or 28 feet. This photo was taken 10 years ago, so I guess it would be a bit taller now.
It is located in the Bulahdelah State Forest, which is now controlled by the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

Exif: F Number: 2.8, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 10/4000 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 64, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 5.90 mm, Model: C730UZ

Extraordinary sight, John. I guess "flooded" is part of the name of the tree? If so, why did it get that name? #11317541

Thank you for all your kind comments!
The name Flooded Gum derived from the loose chocolate brown bark at the base of the tree trunk, it looked like a flood had come through and and left debris around the base of the tree. #11317937
