Description

You can't domesticate that which belongs to the wild. This particular action-kill was witnessed at Yediur lake Bangalore. I was lying on my stomach and trying to capture a Wagtail, and imagine this " Chequered Kneel " (also popularly known as water-snake) came out of the blue and sent a shudder in me as it grabbed a fish and gobbled up with all its might. A moment where realization dawned in me that these are species so integral to nature, we can't bring in any element of emotion or human-logic to substantiate it – nature has its own protocols and rules. The fish had reason to exist in the lake and the snake had its reason to thrive in the same waters...the integration of nature goes beyond mere understanding! Without losing the moment I had a few quick continuous clicks; here is one for your eyes!

Great experience. Had a similar one with a little garter snake -- watched it go into a lake, under a rock and grab a small fish. Fascinating nature. #1618591

Love to see when someone can experience the awesomeness of photographing in an extreme wild environment. I am a wildlife photographer and there is no substitute for watching nature unfold right before you. YFI, as much as I have wanted, I have never gotten a decent photo of a snake. Kudos. I'll be in India in December for 3 weeks. #11306403
