Ahead and Windward

Description

The preferred position during our yacht club races was usually where I was. I was a master on the starting line, an excellent tactician with an awesome crew on my 26 foot Cal. My boat was named "Desertwin" as we won most of the races in my class. We had many legs and I had each of my crew on the tiller at least on one leg and we would switch trimming the sails and working the sheets. One would be in charge of refreshments and we would rotate after rounding a mark. We would run 3 races each day Sat and Sunday to ensure all boats had equal chance. I really miss those good old days from 1990 to 2006 on Lake Amistad. I also sailed Sea of Japan, BVI and Gulf of Mexico in various bare boats.
