Chucky Mills: Boxing Trainer

Chucky, a great local boxer whose career ended with a serious car accident, is the trainer at MLK Rec Center in blighted North Philadelphia. I met him there four years ago when I was covering an event there. He showed me around and introduced me to his fighters. He's a gem of a man. I asked him if I could take his picture, and this was what he did! CLICK! Added some grunge since I had over-smoothed the original.

A few minutes ago I googled Chuckie Mills and found this quote on a forum: I was in the gym everyday and so was Coach Chuck. He taught me everything I know about boxing. He helped me better myself in life. He helps all the kids in a neighborhood and trains them for free, just to keep em out of trouble. He never asks for NOTHING. He is def an unsung hero." #1603488John Connolly January 12, 2015

Well, it's a fabulous portrait, Michelle. And he does look like a great man. Brave too since he got something good out of his misfortune. #11224532Bill Johnson January 14, 2015
