Primavera/Spring

Description

Gracing the ends of the Santa Trinita bridge in Florence are four sculptures representing the seasons. The bridge was destroyed by the Germans, and later rebuilt using remnants of the original bridge stone, fished from the river, including the (headless) Primavera statue, for spring. (The head was found in the river in 1961, and reunited with the statue.)

Extraordinary work in the rebuild of this bridge. The detail is excellent, Chris, especially when backed up by the soft suggestion of the environment. #11225821
