Primavera/Spring

Gracing the ends of the Santa Trinita bridge in Florence are four sculptures representing the seasons. The bridge was destroyed by the Germans, and later rebuilt using remnants of the original bridge stone, fished from the river, including the (headless) Primavera statue, for spring. (The head was found in the river in 1961, and reunited with the statue.)

What a great theme entry and how fun that they used the sculptures to represent the seasons. Beautiful light and placement with the building in the backgound! #11225708Joy Rector January 16, 2015

Extraordinary work in the rebuild of this bridge. The detail is excellent, Chris, especially when backed up by the soft suggestion of the environment. #11225821Chris Budny January 19, 2015
