Description

This railway, the Whitehorse and Yukon Railway, born of the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897, runs from the port of Skagway, Alaska to Whitehorse, capitol of Yukon. Originally designed to carry miners and mining equipment, today it is run strictly as a tourist railway between Skagway and the Canadian Border.

This is a rework of a previously posted image.

Road this rail line back in the early 70's. That was before the road connecting Skagway to Carcross. At the time, the lines main use was to carry ore to tidewater. Thanks for the memories and the shot! #11225801

Thanks so much, Wayne. Happy to bring back the memories. Nowadays it is used strictly as a tourist railway. #11225806
