The photo of the Getty Museum on the hilltop (posted 11-13-14) shows it as a different, brighter color. The explanation: The stone on the Getty is travertine, which one expert describes as "(a) beautiful honey color..."
I'm going to upload a closeup of one section of travertine to show how many colors, from almost white to the honey color, there are. The color also varies from weather conditions, time of day, and the angle from which the photo is taken.
This was taken at 4:00 PM, during a break from intermittent showers.
