Description

This crowd of butterflies on New York Ironweed was photographed in July 2013 at the meadow in Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania. It is not a composite; they were all there together. In fact the place was under siege by Tiger Swallowtails that day.

Oh, please let me go to butterfly nirvana and see a sight such as this, once! Well, OK, I'd add that I'd have to have my camera with me when I do...What a sight, Michelle - you must've been thrilled to see so many "tigers" at once! Great find - wonderful capture! #11163598

We are not having many Butterflies due to our drought. So far even the monarchs have not shown up. Exceptional capture, Michelle. #11164646

How fortunate you were to spot these beauties and capture them so well! Wow! :) I feel so sad about all the storms and losing such high numbers of the butterfly population. When we were in California Isaw several on the ocean fluttering around the cliff side plants. They gave me hope of future generations to repopulate. I appreciate these delicate creatures now more than ever. Beautiful job, Michelle! #11165361
