Description

***
Lions are important symbolic figures in Chinese/Buddhist culture and religion.
This lion is one of the guardians of the Main Shrine at the Buddhist Temple in La Habra Heights, CA. Per Wikipedia:
""The male lion has its right front paw on an embroidered ball called a "xiù qiú" (绣球), which is sometimes carved with a geometric pattern resembling the figure called "Flower of Life" in the New Age movement."

Very interesting, Mary. I didn't know this - not even about the flower of life. So I read more about it :)
I would certainly think twice before passing this guardian and he looks even more impressive from the angle you captured him. #11159036

I remember us standing there marveling that the longer we looked this statue the more we saw. Kittens and string and love and protection. No wonder it is deemed as their guardian. No one can guard like a mother to her babies. :) So sweet and VERY well captured! :) -Pommy #11161846
