Thursday Night High School

Description

I watched a long video this morning of Scott Kelby reviewing the new Canon 7D Mark II. He said the 5DMark III is not a sports camera. Well it works for me. (Scott doesn't shoot too many urban high school night football games, where half the lights are not working). But he DID go into a dark locker room with the 7DM2 and shot at 16,000 ISO--with very little noise.
-----
But this is from last night, under the conditions described above. Shot this with my 5DM3 at F2.8 with ISO 6000 and shutter speed 1/800. So now I want the new 7D--10 frames/second and virtually noiseless at ISO 16000.
--------
We're looking at #9, who is a star running back and also plays Defense--never rests! The team had a tragedy last week when one of the promising Freshmen players was deeply involved in a murder. So sad.

Exif: F Number: 2.8, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/800 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 8000, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 195.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 5D Mark III

A terrific sports action shot with excellent colors and clarity!! So sad about the player involved in a murder. The hope is that sports will provide a healthy activity. #1590377

Nice low light action shot. I can see it does work for you, but what sports photographer wouldn't want the 7DM2? (I wonder how it compares to the 1DM4 which I've always heard is the go to camera for sports. I'll have to compare... #11155638

A mighty sports action shot Michelle! You have excelled yourself with this one! #11155746

Oh, here we go with your awesome sports photography! Sure hope I don't have to go out and buy a new camera for my few sports games.
This is fabulous! #11155900

Another one of your great high school sports action shots Michelle that I look forward to each year. I've already placed an order for the 7D Mark II with B&H so now all I have to do is sit and wait for it, they said sometime next month but I wouldn't count on it. Hope you have a great weekend. #11156037

Excellent action capture, Michelle. I too have problems shooting in low light sport events and have to use ISO's up to 16,000 with my Canon EOS 1D mark IV. Sad to hear about the murder. #11159321

Terrific timing and capture #11162409
