Description

Our home port is currently the world's largest coal export port. I caught this image of the 'David Allan' dredge sailing out of port as the cruise liner 'Celebrity Solstice' was entering for the first time, earlier this year.

There are many hundreds of shipping movements annually and the harbour dredging is an ongoing operation.

Phil, I had never thought or heard of dredging and its useful purpose until your excellent capture of this dredge prompted me to hit the Internet. Fascinating! And the morning light washing across the vessel really is quite beautiful. Lovely reflection, too. #11111165

When crossing the harbour by ferry yesterday the dredge was on the move. It was dodging the fishing trawlers or the other way around. Great shot on the harbour. #11201280
