A Capitol View

This weekend, I made some new photography friends from Australia, and took them to Arlington Cemetery
for sunset views over The National Mall. Not only did we enjoy the newly-revealed Washington Monument
(no longer encased in scaffolding for earthquake repairs) but I was able to pop my camera onto their impressive
EF 200-400 f/4L for a few shots, and enjoy the crisp, 18-point starbursts forming on streetlights at
about f/20, vs. my zoom which makes very "mushy" starbursts in comparison.
For some scale, the domed US Capitol Building is 3.3 miles, straight-line measure, from where we stood taking this photo.

I am at a loss for words. You have out done yourself! The details are just stunning. #1580685Chris Budny July 27, 2014
Thanks, Candace... It is an amazing lens to be sure -- clocking in around 8 pounds, it has a built-in 1.4 extender (meaning you can make it achieve 560mm focal length with the flick of a switch on the lens body.)As it runs around $12k for that lens, I think I will continue to hope for the kindness of other photographers who own it, to let me take a few shots from time to time! #11093281
