Stopping The Light

Description

*****

Saw this striking mannequin as I was leaving a major department store at closing time. When I uploaded the photo, I noticed the position of the hand and the ceiling lights.

Have a great weekend!

Beautiful capture. Great find and it does look like the light is coming out of her hand. Cool! #1566833

Isn't it fun when that happens? :-) Is the dress made out of paper? It is very interesting whatever it is ! #11000829

I appreciate your friendly and supportive words so much, Tammy, Gord, Jeff, Tiia, Joy, and Jill. Thank you!
Jill, it WAS a nice coincidence about the hand and light. The dress layers appeared to be a type of construction paper, but with a shiney surface. #11000878

It always pays to have that camera with you. Love everything about it Mary. The pose to start with. It reminds me of that saying when someone said something to you, you did not want to hear, you would hold out your hand like this and say, talk to the hand. Love the gold tones and that outfit. Fantastic find dear friend.
My monitor went down, have a new one coming in a few days. Will use my nook to comment before work and on break on wi fi. A lot slower.
Take care dear friend. #11001539

Thanks, Frank, for all the kind words, and for the title I wish I'D thought of first( "Talk to the hand!")!!
Sorry to hear about your computer problems. At least you have some (slow) substitutes to carry you through the glitch.
Hope you get your new monitor sooner than expected. In the meantime, take care, and enjoy today, my friend. #11002223

HA! Very funny, Mary. And well seen :)

Is this a dress for wearing?
It looks like it's made out of paper.

But pretty it is and your capture of it is eminent. #11002469

Mary K. Robison March 18, 2014

Hello, Kiki ~ thanks for commenting on this. It appeared to be construction paper, and not meant for wearing --- unless you're a lady about eight feet tall! ;-D #11002951

Oh how I love the rush of department story photos. HeeHee...I took a bunch in the Christmas section of Wal Mart once and thought for sure they would kick me out. :D Then another time I was in our indoor mall in the midway window shopping and took a bunch. Only one person stopped me and I told them if was for a photo club. But I still felt like a criminal afterwards. :)))

I'd say you are cracking a case here. You say you were there at closing time? That is when all the manikins come to life and they all play until morning. You caught her in action shutting down the lights that bother her all day. (Unless she is really a super hero among the manikins and she was repelling a BEAM coming from the HEAL in the SHOE department she has a beef with).

:D

Really fun photo. You know, I saw a lady on TV recently that makes her daughter all sorts of high fashioned dresses from paper to play make believe in. She is good at it too. She can copy almost any fashion gown from MAGS or TV. Amazing.

So is your eye for fun!

Thanks for passing through with your friendly and funny message, Pom!
I think there's a "Twilight Zone" episode where Anne Francis gets off the elevator after the store is closed, and finds herself crashing a mannequins' party...spooky.
That lady who creates "make-believe" paper clothing for her young daughter is also creating a fantastic memory for her grown-up daughter. SO cool!
