the composition is outstanding... I love the layers of textures eg) the 3 types of water rolling in - flat then the residual of a wave, then the wave it self...this vs the man made wharf with the feel of trees or bamboo randomly growing... then of course the once in a life time motion of the surfer. Incredible timing, nice colours..not washed out by noon time sun.

Great photo
good eye!! #10975230

Yes, MaryAnne said it perfectly and this is another favorite for me, Robert! Besides the surfer (who I assume is ok) I love those background colors along with everything else! #10975865

Thank you so much for the comments and favs! This was shot at the Huntington Beach pier last December. The surf conditions were very good and the lighting was epic. Looks like the kid was attempting a rodeo flip. He didn't complete the maneuver but he was fine. The pilings are further away than they appear in the shot. #10975926

Thank you. My please for the comments.

I think an excellent photo is worth more than a quick glance. I always say that.

There is a reason it is excellent.

Also I am really into textures and composition, irony and dichotomies.
