Wow, Wow, Wow, Wow! The lines in the sand pull me into the picture and up to speed with the bird. (Maybe that doesn't make sense but those were the first words that came into my mind when I saw this). Fantastic job, gongrats on being a finalist! #2214807

I must disagree with everyone. The picture looks pretty fake to me. For one the sand does not show any of the shadows from the wispy clouds or the eagle. This seems pretty incredible for such a bright day. The horizon also looks a bit too straight (if you zoom into the horizon, you'll actually find the horizon lines only vary by a pixel width!). Seems almost like a "cut and paste"... ahem. If I wanted to see a picture made from a collage of pieces of cardboard, I'd watch Southpark. #2296890

To show what I mean here's my copy of the same image with 5 minutes worth of cut and paste and stock photos from the internet. #2297173

I never assumed this to be a real-life shot. But as a composite, I still think it is a beautiful image. The color pairing of sky and sand is terrific. I'm not crazy about the angle of the bird, but it is an eye-catching shot, regardless. #2297541

As a composite I still love this image! Henry Peach Robinson, a sort of pioneer in the art of combination printing, received a lot of criticism from "Naturalist" Photographers. I spent a lot of time this last fall researching him and other artists and came to the conclusion that those so call "naturalists" don't have much ground to stand on. I believe there is more to this art than just capturing a moment in time with film or ditital sensors. This is still a wonderful and noteworthy picture regardless of whether or not it is a composite. #2298017
