Description

----
After the Pearl Harbor Day Commemoration service (conducted under a tent on the rear deck), we were among the last to leave the Battleship New Jersey.
----
Congressman Rob Andrews (trench coat) of the New Jersey First District (Camden--the most dangerous city in the U.S.) has hosted this ceremony for the last 23 consecutive years. He stops to talk to constituents as the rain begins pelting down again.
----
Truth be told, I had forgotten to change the camera settings that I had been using inside the tent, and the first few outdoor shots I snapped were overexposed and with the wrong white balance.
----
But something about this image kept me interested enough to work on it for over an hour.

It looks like it was taken years and years ago - during WWII. Although we have been at war forever it seems, the American public for the most part has been divorced from it. I think that's a mistake. We should all have to participate and "suck it up" if our country is going to send its sailors and soldiers off to war. This is what your picture said to me... #1555314

Unique work Michelle! I immediately thought of my dad! He was on the USS California after it was raised up from Pear Harbor and reconstructed! I loved listening to his stories about that ship...funny and sad stories! #10917816
