Description

Anyway

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

-Mother Teresa
(By way of Kent. M. Keith)

Thank you Avril, Monnie and Little Sister, Laura Lee-Lee. :)

I could add to the poem my own personal experiences but I think this one says a lot.

Just keep being ourselves. In hopes that our true friends and family love and accept us and appreciate us always. It's not always easy to keep our hearts right, and juggle it all, but that is the part where it is between us and our maker.

We can't please everyone and that has been my problem in life. Trying to be in all places at all times. It just cannot be done.

All day yesterday I did for my 95 year old Father in law who is very grateful to have me in his life. :) It's a joy to know him at this stage in his life and be there for him.

And when we fall short we find out who really cares, (by how forgiving they truly are), and who really just cares about themselves and their own little worlds. (We all have our own worlds for sure! And mine is BUSY!)

And so we move forward without bitterness. It's all we can do.

Thanks for your visits and kind comments!!

I try, Brother John, but fall short. Chris V, had a birthday card up for me for a week before I saw it. Times like that make me feel like a failure. I cant be everywhere and I do try but fall short. She is a good woman to forgive me.

If I have ever let you down, please forgive me, okay? I never meant to ever make ANYONE feel bad or hurt.

-Sister Swanee :)

Mother Teresa had great wisdom and apparently a gift to help her share it.

Fascinating photo. #10902882

:) Thank you, Michelle. So true. She was one of a kind and an inspiration to me and so many. Hard to believe there were those who didn't like her. She kept a soft heart and that is the key to many roads to joy and happiness.

A wonderful story telling image, also gives us a hint not to complain. A very well written verse that we all should read every now & then, you can only do so much. And as I said before, don't worry about the card, you got there when you could. I hardly get around to anything lately & just when I have a little time, I hear thunder & will have to turn my computer off!!! Keep smiling=^..^= #10904564

The image is so well done, Pom, with a great perspective...and the man in the wheelchair makes me think about how lucky I am by comparison.
The verses, as Chris said, should be read on a regular basis. We all need a reminder now and again that treating others well comes before all else --- at least while we're here on earth.

Pom, please don't ever feel bad or guilty when your life is so busy that you overlook something or someone temporarily. We all know you for the kind and thoughtful friend you are. "By their acts you shall know rhem." Bottom line, THAT'S what matters. You're the proof of that. #10904646

You are all true an unselfish friends. Thanks for going easy on me.

Last week I forgot the gender of a "friends" new grand baby and lost that friend. I had only seen two photos of it in a year and was led to believe it was a girl so called it a girl. Naturally it is a boy and I felt horrible for my error and got severely jumped on and told I was not genuine. UGH. A terrible feeling to be told this after what I thought was such a nice friendship.

So, I will go in peace and know in my own heart that I am sorry for this blunder and said I was to the person I disappointed. What more can I do?

Beautiful Laura!

Go Placidly Amide The Noise And Hast
And Just Remember :) #10905109

Laura E. Swan level-classic November 22, 2013

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. #10905117

:) So true. Thank you so much for bring that up. And one of faults is my bad memory. I try and remember everything but I just can't. I have never meant to offend anyone. My true friends know this.

It's also sad when you come across a person that always feels like they are the victim. And always having mis-understandings. They forget they are loaded with flaws, too, that have been overlooked by kind hearted people for the sake of friendship and compassion.

"Victim" types do not know how to give a person slack because they are so self absorbed in their own worlds and troubles. #10905729

True words from Mother Teresa. I believe she lived by those words herself.

I like what you did with this scene, SSSLala.

And it is a very interesting scene that I also see myself in. I have my camera in front of my eye even before I've looked at a scene.

Very well seen and a terrific image for sure. #10909084

Hi Doug! Thanks!! I played with the lighting a bit in DDR. I'm glad you like the end results!!

Hi Bobby Ray! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and put those left overs to good use! :D

Hi Sister Kiki!!! :D I do think she did, too! As for the photo, Dale and I sat by the Lake a while and "People Watched". It was so interesting to watch people coming and going. I took several photos of things and people. :D That has been a project of mine this year. To branch out and take some candid people photos. It usually makes me uncomfortable and sometimes happy but I have never regretted it in the end.

Thank you so much for all you have said here!
