Interview: Winning QB

Uploaded: November 12, 2013

Description

--
Following the (Philadelphia High School) Public League championship game, the winning Quarterback is interviewed by our paper's reporter. who has a unique interviewing style (at least with high school kids): He starts off saying, "Talk to me about..." and the dots are replaced by a description of what would be the athlete's response. All the interviewee HAS to do is nod. That stimulates the conversation; otherwise many of the kids are lost for words.
--
The team battles next weekend against the extremely tough Catholic League champions.

For news photographs, we are only permitted to crop, straighten, sharpen, and brighten (and maybe denoise) a shot. So if I enter one of the unpublished shots, I can process in any way I choose.
-----
For this image, I converted to black and white with NIK Silver Efex, and then moved to TOPAZ Restyle for the final touches.

I love the realism of your photo work with people. Its as is, nothing posed. I also enjoy your use of black and whites and in this case that touch of sepia. I personally think that your people work is one of the most overlooked here at BP. Fantastic look and I love the way you got the players expression, how as he is talking to the reporter, you can see him thinking about what he is saying. Fantastic Michelle. #10897244

Wonderful capture - and I sure can relate to the difficulty of interviewing anyone under the age of 21! #10897253
