Thanks for your comments, Michelle and Monnie.
It is possibly mostly flat prairie with the Platte River running east west. Then there are some escarpments some of which have eroded like this. The settlers with their wagons followed the Platte River and these various rock formations formed landmarks for them along the way.We followed the trail here with our 5th wheel (modern wagon) on our recent trip. #10891810
