Rita, I love this shot! The simplicity of the composition makes it for me! Details are wonderful. It makes me want to open the door and see what's inside!Beautiful! #1545972

Love the verticle lines and the old wood. I think a healthy dose of lighten shadows would bring out the maetal of the latch more. #10853990Jeff E Jensen September 26, 2013
I agree with Mike, a little more detail in just the latch is all this needs. #10854008Dale Hardin September 26, 2013
Ditto. #10854031Stephen Shoff September 27, 2013
Wow, I don't see how you could get better detail in that latch. So I'll be very interested to see that Mike's suggestion looks like. For me, the difficulty is in prceiving what I think is a right angled wall coming out from the door. I just don't seem to be seeing the 3-dimensionality correctly. #10854646

thank you this is a little park that has three home from the original settlers in the area. here is one with the shadows open, original picture for you stephen and a picture of one of the cabins. I showed another not to long ago with the fog around it. #10854894Elaine Hessler September 28, 2013
Beautiful detail! I love the richness of this photo-the wood grain and the rusted lock. The lock is my favorite part of this photo-the title is perfect. I do see Stephen's point about the wood wall next to the door. Stephen, do you think it would help to have that a bit darker to separate it from the door? #10854923Dale Hardin September 28, 2013
I like the comp of the original image better than the cropped one. The latch and lock are still the star but the environment is much better and helps show it's place in that environment. #10854961Stephen Shoff September 29, 2013
I don't know, Rita. I tried shadow for that purpose awhile back and it didn't work. I think Dale made a good point, it took the full door jamb to put the handle into context. But for me that weakened the composition. #10855530Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
