I took this at the Des Moines Art Center. Established in 1948, this art museum has a very nice collection of paintings, sculpture, modern art and mixed media. Three of the greatest names in 20th century architecture are responsible for the design of the museum: Eliel Saarinen, I. M. Pei and Richard Meier. Though they bring different styles and periods to the building, the whole is both cohesive and beautiful. This detail is from the addition of bush hammered concrete designed by Pei in 1968.

Well, I think this is a wow architectural image, Nikki. The form and lines are terrific, as is the metallic sheen against the blue sky--and you have to love that perfect glowing sun.

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it might be the JFK library in Boston which was designed by I.M. Pei. When I read your description, I could see why I thought so. Beautifully done! #10842436
