AHHHHH Anyone for a nice 'cool' swim?
Wonder why we don't see swimmers in that water...teheee....
Fantastic capture of this beautiful Lake, Laura. It sure tells the story of a beautiful bright day... fresh air, and a nip in the air! Outstanding presentation! 8o) #10835518

Good morning Doug, Monnie, Bobby Ray, Mumj, Ken and SSSKiki!!!

I wish you all could have been there, too! Having a picnic with me and toasting to those who had come before us.

History has it that this Lake was named by a woman explorer (I love that idea!) who named several of the Rockies, surrounding the Lake, after the men who came there with her on her second journey there. She mapped the entire area out herself! WOWZA! I LOVE HER ALREADY! And she must have been English since they pictured her riding side saddle!?

She also named the Lake it's current name. The Native Indians had named it something else. Sad it got changed but she renamed it after the Maligne River.

And YES KEN. I swan. Can't you see me out there? I had the camera on my tripod and set it for 2 hours and swam way out there. I am waving. Look again! HA!

Just joking. (And so was Ken folks! He must know the real scoop having been here in, 2006). This gorgeous Lake is Glacier fed (thus the color) and it's always freezing cold.

Another neat thing to know is this view is in fact the area of the Lake that no boat is allowed. No diesel, etc., has ever touched it. And no motors are allowed on Maligne Lake except the tour boats. (They said this but I spotted a one man fishing tour company on a small vessel using a tiny portable outboard that day! HA!)

I think we should have a BP CONVENTION and make this Lake the destination for a wonderful picnic. What do you think? If we plan it years in advance we could all start saving up for it NOW! :D

Thanks all!

Hi Emile, Wm, Ellen and Mumj! :D

Great to see you all.

I know I am a broken record but I wish we could all see these places together. Every photographer should see the best spots in the world for their own eyes.

I'm just glad I can at least bring you my part of the world if you are not able to make it here.

Emile, I am am thrilled that you made it here. Once Canada has entered our eyes, it goes into our hearts and stays there forever doesn't it?!

Wm, I'm still waiting to see your slide show of Jasper...(Oh wait. You cant share slides here! Lol...I hope YOU will look at them soon and enjoy them again!)

And Mumj, your wish is my command. Check your mail for further instruction. xo
