Decline of Hydrangea

Uploaded: August 23, 2013

Description

---
As I acquire my own patina, I seem to have more appreciation for the beauty of natural decline.
---
This year our Lacecap Hydrangea THRIVED after having had its blossoms molested by deer every year for the past twenty-five years. My neighbor, Greg, swears he did not spray the bush for deer, but Liza, his wife, assures me that he did.
----
At any rate, the large bush was covered this season with blossoms ranging from deep blue, to purple, to pink, to ecru, to white. It's been a brilliant season, and the deer have been mysteriously absent.
----
And now, the blossoms begin to wither into their winter form. Just gorgeous in their slow decline to dust.
---
A "Daddy Long-Legs" creeps over the ridge, hiding from my lens, he thinks.
