Strange Face In The Mirror

Uploaded: August 06, 2013

Description

As Per Google:

The old parlor trick of staring at yourself in a mirror until your face starts to change called, Strange Face In The Mirror, has now been studied scientifically. Giovanni Caputo led a study in which 50 people tried the trick and reported their reactions.
At the end of a 10 min session of mirror gazing, the participant was asked to write what he or she saw in the mirror. The descriptions differed greatly across individuals and included: (a) huge deformations of one’s own face (reported by 66% of the fifty participants); (b) a parent’s face with traits changed (18%), of whom 8% were still alive and 10% were deceased; (c) an unknown person (28%); (d) an archetypal face, such as that of an old woman, a child, or a portrait of an ancestor (28%); (e) an animal face such as that of a cat, pig, or lion (18%); (f ) fantastical and monstrous beings (48%).

I DON'T SUGGEST YOU TRY THIS AT HOME
(Or At Anyone Else's Home! HeeHee!)

A woman of mystery with a definite Cleopatra look to me! As for me, I try not to "study" myself too long nor too deeply in my mirror! LOL! Great SP, Laura/Cleo - this month's theme is right up your alley! #10800896

Hi Val and Emile :)

I was sad to get a notice from BP saying that we cannot re-enter images anymore. They have to be new ones, so this excludes 98% of my work for SP's ... They said we can if substantial changes are made so I am trying to wok on this angle. Lol...

Thanks for your care and support.

I appreciate you both very much!

Very interesting, SSSLala.

And WOW!!!!!! - what a fantastic image.

I know the face and yet it is changed in a strange way. Still beautiful, though.

Sometimes and image speeks to me in a way that I can't explain, because I don't really have the words to describe the feelings that it touches.

This is one of those images, Sister.

I guess that's what true ART is all about, isn't it. Communication from one soul to another.

I could stare at it for hours (only you just adviced me not to, didn't you? Or was it my own image? Well, I have no intention of staring at my own image in the mirror. I don't want to ruin a perfectly happy weekend.) :)

It a definite FAV and winning image for me and I hope the judges see it. #10802819

Sister Kiki, you assessment of this image means so much to me. I always try and give viewers something to enjoy or thing about. To open our minds and imaginations. Like LSD but without the drugs! Lol... Hmmmm...LS=Laura Swan. What could the "D" be??

I love you but you already knew this. You are also so humble about your beauty. Sister, I find you very beautiful. HEY BTW I did do this as a kid (the stare in the mirror thing) and my face did change and even disappear. It was freaky and I wont do it again. Lol...You have to try not to blink. It gets more and more weird.

Thanks again for telling me your heart when you see my work and THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR GREAT COMMENTS!

Pom, I find this gorgeous SP to be totally fascinating, with the frame and black backdrop creating such an elegant image. The information about the study is intriguing, too. (Don't know if I'm up for the "Strange Face" experiment, though...)
What a bummer about the "no more re-entering photos" rule!! So many of your SP's could definitely be among the Finalists, and at least one would rate a gold award.
You still have a week to play in the dark, to produce a new SP or two. Good luck, my sweet friend!
